Wondering what’s in store when you sign up for dance camp? Here’s a sneak peek at what makes summers with Synergy unforgettable.
Starting Off on the Right Foot: Morning Warm-Up
Each day at dance camp begins with a buzz of excitement as campers arrive, greeted by our team of talented dance instructors. Our full-day camps start at 9:00 a.m., while our half-day tot session kicks off at 9:30 a.m.
Once everyone has had a chance to settle in, our camp leaders will get things started with a warm-up. This session is all about waking up the body, building energy, and setting the tone for the day ahead. A combination of stretching and light movement helps even the most energized dancers get the wiggles out.
Getting in the Groove: Where Dance Meets Imagination
Every day at summer dance camp is a chance to explore something new. During our full-day recreational programs, campers explore a variety of dance styles. From ballet and jazz to hip-hop and contemporary, the assortment of genres we incorporate gives every dancer the chance to build new skills. It’s all about helping your child discover what makes them light up on the dance floor.
Our half-day camps for our youngest dancers take the excitement to the next level. Each day, our dance teachers bring the adventure to life with themes designed to spark your child’s imagination while introducing them to the joys of dance. From themed storytimes to dress-up days, every moment is carefully crafted to keep even the youngest campers engaged.
Beyond the Beat: Creative Breaks and Fun Activities
Even the most enthusiastic dancers need a break! Throughout the day, campers will have a chance to unwind with fun activities that keep the imagination flowing while giving their bodies a much-needed break. Unique crafts, games, and team-building activities keep your child engaged while encouraging self-expression and plenty of social interaction.
Which Camp is Right for Your Dancer? Full-Day vs. Half-Day Camps
We designed our summer dance camps to meet kids where they’re at. From half-day sessions for our youngest dancers to technique-focused competition intensives, our programs are tailored to all ages and skill levels.
Half-Day Tot Dance Camp (Ages 3-5 Years)
Our week-long Tot Camp welcomes dancers between 3-5 years old. This half-day session runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon and offers a gentle introduction to movement and rhythm for beginning dancers. Imaginative games and activities are woven into every session to ensure your little one is always having fun.
Full-Day Recreational Dance Camp (Ages 6-12)
We offer a full day of movement, creativity, and fun to dancers aged 6-8 and 9-12. Between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., campers will be exposed to a variety of dance styles, offering a perfect sampler for kids looking to try a little of everything! Crafts and games connected to the theme of the day are always incorporated throughout the session to keep things balanced.
Competition Team Intensive (Ages 8+)
This camp is geared toward Synergy Competition Team dancers ages 8 and up. It is also a great fit for recreational dancers ages 13 and up who are serious about leveling up their skills. Campers will have the opportunity to practice in a supportive yet challenging environment designed to prepare dedicated dancers for our elite competition teams.
Summer Night Classes (Ages 4+)
Our three-week summer night session is designed to accommodate dancers with busy schedules—or those who just want to add a little extra dance into their day! Campers can choose from classes covering a variety of styles, including classics like ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical dance.
What Should I Bring to Dance Camp?
Packing for camp doesn’t have to be complicated! Review our summer dance camp checklist to ensure your child is ready for anything the day brings:
Dancewear: Make sure your child is dressed in comfortable clothes designed for dancing. Don’t forget to include any required shoes for the day when packing their dance bag!
Water Bottle: Staying hydrated should be a top priority for your camper, especially during high-energy dance sessions.
Snacks: Don’t forget a healthy snack to help your child recharge during breaks. Pretzel sticks, fruit snacks, and granola bars all make for a quick and tasty treat.
Theme Accessories: Got a superhero cape or fairy wings to match the day’s theme? Send them along to add some extra magic to your child’s day!
3 Reasons to Enroll Your Child in Summer Dance Camp
1. Kids Build Confidence in a Low-Stakes Setting
Camp gives dancers an opportunity to express themselves and try new things without the pressure of an upcoming competition or annual recital. Each day of camp is an opportunity to explore, experiment, and grow as a dancer in a supportive environment.
2. Friendships Can Outlast the Summer
Spending a week (or a few!) with fellow dancers moving, creating, and laughing together means campers build real friendships quickly. Theme days, group games, and shared performance opportunities all give dancers common experiences to bond over. And for students who are new to the studio, camp is a natural way to dive into the Synergy Dance Center community.
3. Daily Practice Accelerates Growth
Dancers learn through repetition. Daily sessions focused on technique and performance skills give dedicated dancers a way to maintain momentum during the summer season and a head start going into the fall. Campers often return to their fall classes with sharper muscle memory, improved technique, and a stronger ability to retain choreography.
An Unforgettable Summer Dance Camp Experience

Summer Dance Camp FAQs
1. Does my child need prior dance experience to attend camp?
No! Several of our summer dance camps are designed to welcome dancers of all skill levels. While our Competition Team Intensive is geared toward experienced dancers, many of our full-day camps and summer night classes are designed for kids who are new to dance, with instruction that begins with the basics and builds up. These programs also offer plenty of room to grow for kids with previous dance experience!
2. What if my child gets nervous or has trouble at drop-off?
Nerves before the first day of camp are completely normal, and our instructors are pros at helping kids with separation anxiety transition. Our camps are designed to create a warm, welcoming environment from the moment your child walks through the door. Most parents are surprised by how quickly their child’s nerves are replaced by excitement! If you have specific concerns about your child’s adjustment, reach out to us before the first day of camp so we can make sure they feel supported from day one.
3. Can my child attend more than one camp session over the summer?
Of course! Many of our campers sign up for multiple sessions or night classes over the summer. It’s a great way to keep momentum between the end of the school year and the start of fall classes. For students interested in trying out a variety of styles during our summer night sessions, multi-class discounts are also available.
4. How is dance camp different from regular dance classes?
While a regular dance class typically offers an hour of instruction once a week, camp gives kids the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the world of dance. This extra time helps dancers improve their technique, but it also creates a greater sense of community that builds faster friendships. For many families, camp is what transforms dance from an after-school activity their child does to a passion that they genuinely love.
